RANI is a Dutch singer-songwriter with more than 1.5 billion streams to her name.
Born Shannon in Heerhugowaard, she was raised on the music of her Surinamese grandmother Sewrani, from whom her stage name is drawn, and started writing songs at sixteen. “Rani means queen in Hindi,” she says. “Carrying that title in honour of my grandmother is what drives me to make music that’s heartfelt, honest, and that gives people a place to land.”
Her voice first travelled the world on some of dance music’s biggest records, from the platinum “Post Malone” with Sam Feldt to collaborations with David Guetta, Jonas Blue and R3HAB, and more recently Bakermat and Meduza. As a featured artist she has gone platinum in the UK, the US, Sweden, the Netherlands and France, and her songwriting credits include “Rock My Body”, with over 200 million streams.
Alongside that, she has built a body of work of her own: two albums and an EP, a solo single in “Amen” that passed 43 million views on TikTok, and a sold-out headline show at Amsterdam’s Melkweg.
In 2026 she opened her most personal chapter yet: The Private Page Club. A conceptual EP that reads like an open diary, each release a new page. And a club where members receive what usually stays in the drawer: voice memos, demos, lyrics that never made it. They write back, and she reads every letter.
